According to the distribution agreement, Hero MotoCorp will both sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the Indian market.

Also, Harley’s parts and accessories, general merchandise riding gear in India will be sold through brand-exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers and Hero’s existing dealership network.

Harley Davidson and Hero Motorcorp deal

As per the licensing agreement, Hero MotoCorp will both develop and sell a series of premium motorcycles under the Harley-Davidson brand name.

Earlier it was claimed by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) that Harley-Davidson kept all its dealers in India in the dark.

According to Fada, the company had not informed any of its dealerships to stop production and sale in India. It may be known that Harley-Davidson had announced to abruptly shut down its operations in India, making all the Indian dealers of the company in a hurry.

Reasons for Harley India quits

The company had decided to shut down both its sales and production in India.

In fact, there were indications from the company to stop operations for some time. Harley Davidson sold less than 2,500 units in India in the last financial year.

The major reason for this decision of the company was also the coronavirus epidemic, due to which its operations in India suffered heavy losses.

Surprisingly, this decision was taken by Harley at a time when the company had completed 10 years in India.

Earlier, we had told you that Harley Davidson India could enter into an agreement with Hero MotoCorp for its distribution in India.

In such a situation, Harley’s motorcycles will be imported into India, which will be sold through Hero MotoCorp.

Negotiations between the two companies had been going on for quite some time. Now Hero MotoCorp is the master distributor for Harley’s motorcycles in India.

Bajaj Auto has launched its popular scooter Bajaj Chetak in the electric model. After this, TVS Motors has also launched its electric scooter IQUBE in the market.

Best Electric Bike in India 2020

1. Ather 450 X

Key Highlights:

Overview:

Bangalore’s largest electrical vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy has launched its new electric scooter Ather 450X, which will replace the current model Ather 450.

Battery:

The new Ather 450X has already been introduced with bigger battery packs, more power, and better performance.

Ather 450X has a 2.9kwh battery pack, It has a 6kW electric motor which will now generate 8bhp of power and 26Nm of torque.

Range:

Ather 450x comes in two drive modes – Ride Mode and Eco Mode.

The scooter runs 85 km in Eco mode. While in ride mode it can run up to 75 km and according to the company, Ather 450X can cover a distance of 116Km on full charging.

Price:

The price of 450X Plus is Rs 1.49 lakh, while in Delhi it is Rs 1.35 lakh. At the same time, the price of 450X Pro variants is Rs 1.59 lakh, while in Delhi it is Rs 1.45 lakh.

The prices of this scooter have come down considerably due to the Delhi Government’s policy for Electrical Vehicles.

2. Bajaj Chetak Electric

• Top Speed 80 kmph.
• LED headlights and DRL.
• Special reverse gear feature.

Overview:

Bajaj chetak was the best scooter of its time but now it comes in an electric avatar.

It comes in two variants Urbane and Premium. The Urbane variant will get drum brakes at the front and disc brake feature will be available in Premium.

Battery:

The scooter will get lithium-ion batteries, which can be charged from the domestic five to 15 ampere’s electric outlet. The company is giving a warranty of three years or 50 thousand km with this scooter.

This scooter has a 3kWh system, which will give torque of 16 Nm.

Range:

The battery will take five hours to charge with the normal charger, while it charges up to 25 percent in one hour of charging.

It will get two ride modes – Eco and Sport. Mileage will be 95 km in Eco Mode and 85 km in Sport Mode.

Price:

The urban variant of Chetak priced at Rs 1 lakh. and premium variant price for Rs 1.15 lakh.

3. Indian Electric bike -Revolt RV400

Key Highlights:

• Connectivity features.
• Equipped with 4G LTE SIM.
• 4 pre-loaded motorcycle sounds.

Overview:

The Revolt RV400 is one of the best electric bike in India that is constantly being talked about, it is the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) equipped electric motorcycle.

 The Revolt RV 400 comes in black and red color options.

Battery:

The bike is powered by a 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery operating at 72V that generates 3W of power.

Increasing its electric vehicle portfolio, China’s electric vehicle maker Benling has launched the Aura e-scooter equipped with many high-tech features.

The scooter comes with rounded headlamps, mirrors, and a minimalistic front apron.

Also, it has some riding friendly features like a USB charging port, Digital Instrument Cluster, and Breakdown Smart Assistance.

This scooter has powered by a 2,500W electric BLDC motor lithium-ion battery.

This Benling scooter costs 90,000 rupees (ex-showroom Delhi).

5. TVS iQube Electric

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has launched its first electric scooter TVS iQube in India. TVS is the second Indian company after Bajaj to have launched its Electric Scooter in the Indian market.

The company was working on TVS iQube since 2018 and showcased its prototype at Auto Expo 2018. But Finally, the company has now launched the production version of the scooter.  

Battery

The TVS iQube offers a 4.4kW electric motor that allows the user to adjust the power output, Also the rider can optimize the range.

 It only takes 5 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent.

Range:

The scooter accelerates from 0 to 40 kilometers per hour in 4.2 seconds. According to the company, this scooter can cover a distance of 75 km on a single charge.

The on road price of TVS iQube is Rs 1.15 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi)

6. Indian Electric bike – Revolt RV 300

• Top Speed Is 65 Km / H.

Overview:

The revolt has launched 2 electric bikes Revolt RV 400 and Revolt RV 300 in the Indian market in  August 2019. The company has launched these bikes with a unique payment plan. 2,999 have to be paid for RV 300. You will have to pay this money for 37 months.

 The company has said that there will be no down payment for this and it is not a rental or lease plan, but the customer will be fully the owner of these bikes from day one.

Features:

RV300 equipped with a ton of features like an LCD screen, in which you can check speed, trip meter, battery power, the riding range, and power consumption.

In the Revolt app, you get many features such as bike location, geo-fencing, fielding nearest swap station with a map guide.

Okinawa has specially designed a mobile app which has ample of features like Geo-Fencing, Virtual Speed ​​Limit, Curfew Hours, Battery Health Tracker, SOS Notifications, Monitoring, Trips, Directions, Maintenance, and Vehicle Status.

Okinawa i-Praise Electric Scooter has been launched by the company in Glossy Red Black, Glossy Golden Black, Glossy Silver Black color.

Honda Forza Highlights

The Honda Forza 350 introduced in two variants – Standard and Touring.

The Forza 350 scooter gets a CVT transmission.

Overview

Honda launched its maxi-scooter Forza 350 in the Thailand market. The company has introduced the Honda Forza 350 in two variants – Standard and Touring.

The price of the Forza 350 Standard version in Thailand is 1,73,500 baht (about Rs 4.16 lakh) and the Forza 350 Touring version is priced at 1,82,900 baht (about Rs 4.35 lakh).

The difference between these two versions of the scooter is that the Touring variant gets the top box standard.

Look and design

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently sold 4 units of the Forza 300 Maxi scooter in the Indian market with this, Honda became the first company in the country to enter the mid-size premium scooter segment.

The Forza 350 scooter is a replacement for the Forza 300. At first glance, the new Honda Forza 350 looks very similar to the old model, but it gets new color options at the same time it looks more attractive.

The side profile shows its length, long wheelbase, and stepped seat. It has all the features of a maxi-scooter.

The scooter weighs 185 kg, which is 2 kg more than the previous model the new scooter has a ground clearance of 147mm and an 11.7-liter fuel tank capacity.

The new scooter has a ground clearance of 147mm which is 3mm taller and fuel tank capacity has increased by 0.2-liter as compared to the Forza 300. The seat height is 780mm as before.

Features

Forza 350 has an electrically adjustable windscreen that can be raised up to 150 mm.

The scooter has LED lights, keyless ignition, Digi-analog instrument cluster, and a USB charger. It has a place to keep the phone, as well as a water bottle can be kept.

Talking about storage, there is a large bin under the long seat which has enough space to keep two helmets.

The engine

The Forza 350 scooter offers a 329.6cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine. The engine 50cc more capacity than the Forza 300 scooter.

The 279cc engine generates 25.1hp power and 27.2Nm torque. but the power and torque details found in the Forza 350 scooter has not been revealed.

According to Honda, the new scooter will give more power than the old model. Also, the new scooter gets a CVT transmission.

Suspension and braking

The Forza 350 scooter has telescopic forks at the front and twin adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter has a 15-inch front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel.

The scooter gets dual-channel ABS with disc brakes on both wheels.

Launch Details

As of now the Honda Forza 350 has been launched in Thailand.

Honda announced that the BS6 variant of Forza 300 will be launched by the FY 2021.

India’s one of the trusted two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has relaunched its iconic scooter Chetak but this time in an electric avatar. Bajaj launched its Electric Scooter Chetak on 14 January.

The look of the scooter is quite attractive and premium and it generates a peak power of 5.36 bhp and 16 Nm torque, The scooter has a 3kWh lithium-ion battery pack and it can be charged with the standard 15A power socket at home.

Range

This scooter can be charged 25% in 1 hour and fully charged in 5 hours. Bajaj Auto claims that the battery life given in Chetak is around 70 thousand kilometers.

Chetak has two riding modes (Eco and Sport). The company claims that Chetak will run more than 95 kilometers in electric eco mode on a full charge and more than 85 kilometers in the sport mode.

Price

The price of the urban variant with drum brake is Rs. 1 lakh and premium variant with disc brake are priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh.

Urban color has been given in solid color with glossy finish and metallic paint with some cosmetic changes in the premium variant.

Okinawa PraisePro

The Okinawa PraisePro has a 2kWh lithium-ion battery and a 1kW BLDC electric motor. The company says that the motor of this electric scooter is waterproof.

This scooter comes with three riding modes including Economy, Sport, and Turbo. Its top speed is 30–35 kph on Economy mode while in Sport mode it runs at a speed of 50–60 kph, while on Turbo mode it runs at a speed of 65–70 kph.

Range

The company claims that Okinawa PraisePro will give a mileage of up to 88 km after a full charge and up to 110 km in economy mode. It will take 2-3 hours for a full charge.

It can also be charged with a normal charger. Not only this, but you can also charge its battery by removing it.

Features

The Okinawa PraisePro has features such as mobile charging USB port and motor walk assist, central locking with anti theft alarm, key-entry and Find My Scooter function.

For safety, this scooter has disc brakes at the front and rear.

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has launched its first electric scooter TVS iQube in India. TVS is the second Indian company after Bajaj to launch its Electric Scooter in the Indian market.

The TVS iQube offers a 4.4kW electric motor. The maximum speed of this scooter is 78km / h. This scooter accelerates from 0 to 40 kilometers per hour in 4.2 seconds.

According to the company, this scooter can cover a distance of 75 km on a single charge. This scooter offers two riding modes economy and power mode.

This allows the user to adjust the power output. Also, the rider can optimize the range. It takes 5 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent.

The on-road price of TVS iQube is Rs 1.15 lakh. This is the on-road price of this scooter in Bangalore.

In Hero Photon, the company has used a 1000 W electric motor. In a single charge, this scooter offers a range of up to 85 km. It takes 4 to 5 hours to be fully charged.
